A wise mentor once told me, “It’s not what you put into your body that counts, but rather what you don’t put into your body that makes the real difference.”
Our society has deemed normalcy in eating everything in moderation. While I am a true believer in eating healthy treats in moderation, I have a difficult time wrapping my mind around the benefits of eating toxins and chemicals found in everyday processed foods, in moderation.
As our foods continue to evolve into food-like products, the affects from the inflammation that they cause in our bodies continue to grow. Auto-immune conditions, cancer, chronic ailments, allergies and behavioral disorders are at an all time high. It is no coincidence that the increased production of processed foods full of toxins, chemicals, GMOs and inflammatory ingredients directly correlates with the increase of dis-ease in our society.
Modern day research tells us that inflammation is at the root of most ailments, conditions and disease. Inflammation is powerful and destructive in the body, and unfortunately it tends to win over the healthy cells. For example, it is common to encounter the belief of eating a healthy meal in order to justify indulging in a decadent dessert. While I admit that is a step in the right direction, if the decadent dessert is full of preservatives, processed sugar, wheat, cow dairy or inflammatory fats, those foods create inflammation that immediately begins to degenerate on a cellular level.
Our cells are either degenerating or regenerating. They never stay the same. By consciously removing inflammatory foods from a diet, it allows they cells to regenerate into youth, beauty and vibrancy… from the inside, out.
As we move into the summer months, I invite you to find moderation with healthy foods, such as using maple syrup or raw honey to cook with in place of processed sugar. The taste is unbelievable, and you will feel great knowing that you are moving your body into a state of optimal and pain-free health.
